Accepted Answer

Click the orange 'Submit' button in the top navigation bar. Fill in your product name, tagline, description, category, and upload a logo plus at least 2 screenshots. You can save as a draft anytime. Once you're happy, choose to publish immediately or schedule for a future date. Products launched between 12:00 AM–11:59 PM IST compete together for that day's rankings.

What is FLP (First Launch Platform)?

FLP stands for First Launch Platform — the concept that IndiHunt is the very first place Indian indie makers should announce and list their products. FLP badge is awarded to products that list on IndiHunt before any other platform. It signals to the community that you chose IndiHunt as your first home, which earns extra community goodwill and a visible badge on your product card.

How do I comment on a product?

Open any product page and scroll down to the 'Discussion' section. Type your comment in the text box. Comments must be at least 5 characters and cannot contain external links (to prevent spam). You can also reply to existing comments. Our automated content moderation checks every comment for violations before it's published.

What is a Streak and how does it work?

A Streak (🔥) counts consecutive days you've visited and engaged with IndiHunt. Every day you upvote, comment, or launch a product, your streak grows. Streaks appear on your profile and product cards. Longer streaks give you higher visibility in the community feed and unlock special maker badges at 7, 30, and 100-day milestones.

How does the Featured algorithm work?

Products are featured based on two combined scores: (1) Quality Score (0–100): based on having a logo, tagline, description, screenshots, demo video, website URL, verified maker profile, GitHub link, and product category. (2) Engagement Score: calculated from upvotes, comments, and time decay. Products scoring 80+ quality AND earning 20+ upvotes within 12 hours are auto-featured. Editors can also manually feature exceptional products.

Can I ask people to upvote my product?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but thoughtfully. You can share your IndiHunt listing with your network, newsletter, and social media. What's not allowed: paying for upvotes, using bots, vote exchanges in DMs, or mass-blasting strangers. Suspicious upvote patterns are detected by our algorithm and may lead to downranking or product removal. Authentic promotion is always welcomed.

How do I improve my Quality Score?

Quality Score checks 9 signals: (1) Logo uploaded, (2) Tagline written, (3) Description > 50 chars, (4) At least 2 screenshots, (5) Demo video URL added, (6) Website URL linked, (7) Maker profile verified, (8) GitHub linked, (9) Category selected. Each item adds ~10–15 points. A score of 80+ makes you eligible for featuring. Check your score on your product's detail page sidebar.

What is a Launch Pact?

A Launch Pact is a mutual agreement between two makers to upvote each other's products on launch day. When you upvote someone's product and they upvote yours back, IndiHunt automatically detects the mutual support and creates a Pact record shown on both profiles. It's a way to build meaningful launch partnerships with fellow Indian builders.

Can I schedule my product for a specific date?

Yes! In the product submission wizard, choose 'Schedule for later' and pick any future date. Scheduled products appear on the calendar and can optionally be shown as 'Coming Soon' previews if you enable the pre-launch toggle. Scheduled products are not ranked until their launch date. You can edit or cancel the schedule anytime from your My Products dashboard.

How do I set up my Maker Profile?

Visit your profile page and click 'Edit Profile'. Add your full name, username (used for your public @handle), bio, location, website, Twitter, GitHub, and LinkedIn links. Upload a profile photo. Linking your GitHub or LinkedIn unlocks the 'Verified Maker' badge, which boosts your product's Quality Score by 15 points.

Stories are long-form posts from makers — think build logs, lessons learned, or behind-the-scenes updates about your product journey. Go to /stories and click 'Write a Story'. Add a title, content, and optionally a cover image and link to your product. Stories are searchable, commentable, and help you build an audience over time.

What are Threads? How are they different from comments?

Threads are standalone discussion posts not tied to a specific product. You can start a thread to ask the community a question, share an opinion, discuss a topic, or start a debate. Comments are product-specific, while threads live in the community forum at /discussions. Threads support nested replies and can be linked back to a product.

How do I run an ad campaign on IndiHunt?

Go to your profile → Campaigns tab → 'Create Campaign'. Choose from Basic (newsletter placement), Momentum (homepage banner), or Managed (full-service). Each tier has different reach and pricing. Campaigns show your product to highly targeted IndiHunt visitors — makers and early adopters actively looking for new tools. All campaigns require a product link and tagline.

What content is not allowed on IndiHunt?

Our automated moderation blocks: external links in comments/replies, profanity and hate speech, spam patterns, all-caps shouting, and promotional DM templates. Violations result in content rejection (not deletion — you can fix and resubmit). Repeated violations may lead to account review. Always keep posts respectful, relevant, and link-free.

What are Collections and how do I use them?

Collections let you curate lists of products around a theme — like 'Best AI Tools 2025' or 'Free Dev Tools I Use'. Visit any product page and click 'Save to Collection'. You can create multiple named collections on your profile. Collections are public, searchable, and help others discover great products through your curation.

What is the Tech Stack feature?

On your profile, the Tech Stack section lets you list the tools, frameworks, and services you use to build your products — e.g. Next.js, Supabase, Tailwind, Vercel. You can pick from a searchable database of 1000+ tools. Other makers can filter community members by stack, helping you find collaborators who use the same technologies.

How do I mark my product as Open Source?

In the product wizard or settings, check the 'Open Source' toggle and paste your GitHub repository URL. Open source products earn an Open Source badge on their product card. This helps the community discover, fork, and contribute to your work.

We highlight student-built products with a Student badge. When submitting your product, check 'Built by a student' to display this badge. It's a safe space for learners to get visibility and constructive feedback.

How do I follow a product for updates?

On any product page, click the 'Follow' button below the product header. You'll receive in-app notifications when the maker posts an update, reaches upvote milestones, or ships a new version. You can manage all your followed products from your profile under the 'Following' tab.

How do I report a product or comment?

Accepted Answer

On any product page, click the three-dot menu (⋯) and select 'Report'. For comments, hover and click the Flag icon. Describe the issue — spam, plagiarism, misleading content, or community guideline violation. Our moderation team reviews all reports within 24–48 hours. Reporters remain anonymous to the reported user.
